"the stuff that dreams are made from"

"German climate engineering firm Transsolar and Tetsuo Kondo Architects have designed an architectural installation, Cloudscapes, previewing at the 12th edition of the Architecture Biennale of Venice (La Biennale di Venezia), and the installation is causing quite a storm.

Cloudscapes on Designboom

"Cloudscapes" by German climate engineering firm Transsolar and Japanese firm Tetsuo Kondo Architects explores the poetic nature of clouds with their installation at the 12th International Architecture Binnale in Venice, Italy this year. By controlling the microclimate of the space in the Arsenale building, a layer of artificial clouds are made to hover above the ground level, remaining in balance above the heads of the viewers.

Behind the Scenes - final touches

What seemed to be a big chaos before, finally it all disappeared behind the white walls. Only the floating cloud reminds us that there is something happening behind the scenes. Kazuyo Sejima is the first to check if everything is perfect.

Behind the Scenes

Until now the pictures only showed how the installation looks from above and below. Here an other gallery about how everything looked a few days before the opening, the equipment and people who made it all work.

Über der Wolke - Above the Cloud

BauNetz live from the Biennale

"Have you already been in the Cloud?" - One of the most spectacular installations of the Architecture Biennale is made by Transsolar, the climate engineers from Stuttgart. They created in the 800 square-meter room a cloud ceiling, a beautiful and slim ramp from Tetsuo Kondo Architects leads up. Above we met Matthias Schuler from Transsolar.

Cloudscapes on the cover of Stylepark Online Magazine

"At a mist or cloud area by the German climate engineers at Transsolar who, together with Tetsuo Kondo, a Japanese designer, have wound a filigree steel ramp around the powerful brick supports that visitors must mount, suddenly finding themselves above a thick layer of mist in one of those edifying moments which we are familiar with from flying or, to put it a better way, from mountain hikes."

Cloudscapes in the Media

In the past couple of days almost no news website, online magazine or blog, wrote about the Biennale without saying a couple of nice words about Cloudscapes. Some of them even dedicated entire paragraphs or articles to it. Thank you all!
